Pearl is just barely 3. But she's fiercely independent way beyond her years in certain situations. I've been told by my parents she may get that from me, but I'm sure Willie has something to do with it too.
I dropped her off in Kamloops (a little over an hour away) for her second sleepover at Janet's this afternoon. She asked for lots of nights but I'll return to pick her up on Wednesday. So two nights, and not so much as a blink when I left and I'm OK with that. I'm happy she's so comfortable, so 'independent' that she can experience a few days without Mom and Dad. A few days without Mom's routine, a few days on her own. Auntie Janet and the whole family truly love her and its obvious Pearl feels the same way.
The drive home was so quiet, the house is so quiet and that quiet is utterly strange. I am so much a Mom and she has become so much a part of me and my life. Something is clearly missing, even lacking without my Ocean Pearl close by.
It goes without saying that Pearl will forever be my babe, however it is my love for her and her well being that allow me to accept this quiet.
See you in a few days my Pearl. I love you.
