Adams River

The Sockeye Run is an incredible sight.

Salmon live a hard life, those that make it back to river where they were born
(4 years prior) to spawn and die have survived commercial fishing, recreational fishing, predators, and disease. Their last days are a constant upriver struggle against strong currents.

Willie and I have even seen salmon jump up and out of the water as they climb uphill.

The Adams River run didn't have the vertical obstacles, but there were low water spots that had more than half their bodies exposed but still they forge ahead.

We saw TONS of salmon in all phases of life, thriving, dieing and rotting.

So next time you enjoy some salmon, be thankful. Its pretty incredible when you think about it.

P.S. Pearl's favourite was the guy with no eyes.
