I missed the Rodeo last year as Leo was still in my belly and with my usual combination of migraine/nausea/fatigue an afternoon in bed trumped one spent at the Stampede.
But this year I was all in. I even obliged when Pearl insisted I wear my old cowboy hat.
This event has been on our calendar for months since attending last year made a lasting impression on our little rodeo cowgirl.
All her favourites returned again this May Long Weekend:
The West Coast Thunder - aka pretty girls with sparkled bum horses
Bucking broncos
Steer riding and wrestling
Barrel racing and of course bull riding
We took in the sights from the grass and moved over to front row grand stand for all the action in the barrel races and bull riding. We were so close you could touch the horses and bulls if you were fast or brave enough and we had to duck from all the flying rocks.
Pearl's favourite part of the day (and mine) was hanging on the gates, cheering on the young rodeo cowboys in the steer riding event. The Fogel boys liked the bull riding best. We may have two rodeo stars in the making.
We will most definitely be making this an annual Fogel Family tradition - yeeehaw!

Nana & Grampa
From Fogel Family outing to Fogel Family participation is a very small leap, easily handled by one as comptent as our Pearl. We won't be surprised when that happens.
Love to all,
