We've just returned from a beautiful trip to Mayne Island http://www.mayneislandchamber.ca/ with our lovely friends the Shupe's. Mayne Island is part of BC's Gulf Islands, and a picturesque ferry ride from Tsawwassen.
The kids were pumped and had been talking about their upcoming trip at home and school so the anticipation and smiles were BIG as we drove out of Vernon last Wednesday. We spent a night on the road together (lots of jumping on hotel beds) and arrived at the cabin early afternoon to sunny skies. We beach combed, hunted for sea glass, hiked, played, laughed, cried, rode bikes, built Inukshuks, visited Farmer Joyce, the Japanese gardens and the Mayne Island Glass Foundry. We saw sea lions, seals, deer, vultures, and boats. We touched star fish, crabs, banana slugs and sea kelp creatures.
The nights were quiet and filled with stars.
Our first official multi-family vacation was a grand success. Even more so considering Amy and baby Alex were sick the entire time. We are very lucky to have found such wonderful friends here in Vernon and are so thankful for our time together in such a special place, memories we won't soon forget. Where are we off to next? Stay tuned...
