I kicked our busy Sunday off at 7:30am with a few thousand runners. My training pretty much stopped in August if I'm being totally honest so I was happy to start and finish in one piece and in just over 2 hours. Seeing Trap and the kids at 2 k's was a real treat too, I could have used their smiling faces a little further on :)
The kids race began shortly after I crossed the finish line. I accompanied Leo and we ran our hearts out. He was focused and determined to run run run, high five'in every motorcycle policeman along the route. Thankfully Tracey joined Pearl as they sprinted the course, I didn't see Pearl again until much later when I found her in line at the bouncey castle. Leo wanted to "do it again Mom" as soon as he crossed and now won't stop asking: "Mom find another race for Leo". Pearl not surprisingly rocked it, perhaps they'll be more running in this family's future.
Afterwards we all made our way over to watch Kev finish, with his painful seized back and all. He had a great time regardless but even more so considering the amount of pain he was in and being unable to stand the night before.
Congrats Kev on another fantastic race, we are all very proud and thanks for sticking with me and helping improve my fitness. Promise to keep to my training better next time...
Trap thank you for all your continued support, for snapping some pictures, for packing the kids up early so I could see their beautiful faces as I ran by, for taking care of us all. You are one of a kind and we are all very lucky to have you.
P.S. We also spotted two humpback whales swimming on the ferry crossing - a BIG BIG highlight!
All this equals a very busy but very memorable trip. Hope everyone had just as much fun over the Holiday weekend.
